Key milestones and achievements

1987

Founding of ACET-VEEDA

Founded in 1987, ACET-VEEDA has represented the interests of spouses and partners of transferable FDFA employees for many decades.

2001

Pension compensation for accompanying partners

After years of advocacy by ACET-VEEDA, a government compensation system was introduced to help address the pension consequences faced by partners accompanying transferable FDFA employees abroad.

2003

FDFA Family Office established

Although it is hard to imagine now, there was no Family Office when ACET-VEEDA was founded. ACET-VEEDA’s advocacy pushed for the creation of the Family Office and helped establish this essential support for partners and spouses.

2012

FDFA Dual Career Project

The FDFA launched a Dual Career project to address the professional challenges faced by partners accompanying transferable employees. This built on a long-standing focus of ACET-VEEDA: advocating for employment and professional opportunities for accompanying partners and working with the FDFA to improve support in this area.

2013

EUFASA Conference in Bern

ACET-VEEDA hosted the 29th EUFASA Conference in Bern, bringing together representatives of associations supporting spouses and partners of foreign-service employees from 24 member countries across Europe. The conference focused particularly on employment and career opportunities for accompanying partners.

2018

ACET-VEEDA Emergency Fund established

ACET-VEEDA established its Emergency Fund to provide members facing sudden death, divorce or separation with quick financial support during times of crisis. The Fund offers short-term loans, and in exceptional circumstances, limited non-refundable assistance.

Today

Supporting, connecting and advocating

Today, ACET-VEEDA continues to support spouses and partners throughout their international assignments. We provide practical information, courses, workshops, networking and social events, while advocating within the FDFA on issues that affect accompanying partners and families, including employment, bilateral agreements, taxes, insurance, healthcare and family life abroad.

ACET-VEEDA also represents Switzerland within EUFASA, connecting our members with a wider European network of associations supporting diplomatic families.
